Well stated! I remember my Norwegian 2nd cousin visiting the US, and being completely freaked out by:
1) Food portions;
2) Overconsumption of beef; and
3) Waste - we treat everything as disposable. She could not believe how large our trash bins were.
Simply put, Americans are pigs! And, it's going to be the death of us. The obesity epidemic is real, and few can afford to be on GLP-1 meds permanently.
We really need to learn some restraint and to treat our food sources as precious.
I don't think that an empty garage parking spot would make all the difference, but I can see how it would be difficult and potentially dangerous to run a Level 2 charging cable from an interior garage wall down the driveway or to the street overnight in all weather conditions.
That makes sense. I have noticed that most cars in my neighborhood are NOT parked in a garage! Ha ha
We can get one car in our two car garage. Too many hobbies in our household (sewing, pottery and Dave does woodworking.) Worse are the things passed to us from parents and the guilt. Things I would love to regift to anyone who would use them, but we have to wait until our parents pass to do that.
Personally, I don't love EVs, but I am a huge fan of hybrid vehicles. My problem with EVs is the batteries. I wish they could be recycled or repurposed. We need to find a solution for that.
You get me thinking about stuff other than insurance. This is a good thing. Thank you!

And the waste doesn't end with food. We buy too much of everything and then waste scandalous amounts of it!
One of the more hilarious things I've read recently is that the American habit of filling up our garages with last year's must-have, but since forgotten, accessories may be a factor contributing to the slow adoption of electric vehicles in this country: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2025/08/junk-filled-garages-hurt-ev-sales-as-people-dont-have-room-for-chargers/.
